1/2 Cup Arhar dal/ Yellow Pigeon Peas
Salt to taste
1 1/2 Cup Veg. (Potato, Bottle gourd,
Pumpkin), fine chopped
1/2 Cup Onion, chopped
1/2 Cup Tomato, chopped
1 Tbsp. Tamarind Pulp
1 Tbsp. MDH Sambhar Masala
¼ Tsp. Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp. Red Chilies Powder
4-5 Whole Red Chilies
4-5 Curry Leaves
1/2 Tsp. Mustard Seeds
Wash and soak arhar dal in 2 cup water
for 15-20 min.
Boil mix Vegetables, dal, sambhar
masala, salt, turmeric powder with 2 glass of water in pressure cooker.
Dal and veg should be soft and cooked.
If mixture is thick then add up to 1
cup water.
Heat the oil in pan and add mustard
seeds and red chillies also curry leaves.
When they start crackles, add onion and
sauté till colour will become golden brown.
Now add chopped tomatoes and sauté
Now add tamarind pulp and cook for 2
Add veg-dal mixture in it and blend
this mixture just for one-two times.
Sambar should be thin and have the
consistency of soup.
If the sambar is thick, add water as
needed. Cook for 10-15 minutes.
Garnish with green coriander and serve
with rice or idli.
